EFFECTUS as a Voice of Quality and Market-Oriented Education

At the General Assembly of HUP – the Employers’ Association in Education, a new leadership of the Association was elected. On this occasion, the Dean of EFFECTUS University of Applied Sciences, Jelena Uzelac, PhD, was co-opted to the Executive Board of HUP-UPO, further confirming the active and recognized role of EFFECTUS in the development of a Croatian education system aligned with labour market needs.

Alongside the Dean of EFFECTUS, the following members were also elected as co-opted members of the Executive Board: Prof. Sunčica Oberman Peterka, PhD (Faculty of Economics in Osijek), Irena Guszak, PhD (RIT Croatia), Prof. Damir Jugo, PhD (Algebra Bernays University), and Slobodan Matić (SPES Center for Tutoring and Translation).

The participation of Dean Jelena Uzelac, PhD, in the leadership of HUP-UPO represents a significant step forward for EFFECTUS University of Applied Sciences, which continuously positions itself as a higher education institution focused on the quality of study programmes, graduate employability, cooperation with employers, and the development of competencies relevant to the contemporary labour market.

“I see this appointment as an opportunity for the experiences of EFFECTUS in connecting education and the economy to further contribute to shaping an efficient, flexible, and sustainable education system. It is essential that education simultaneously retains its public value while maintaining a strong focus on learning outcomes, employability, and the development of human capital,” emphasized Jelena Uzelac, PhD, Dean of EFFECTUS University of Applied Sciences.

The main priorities of HUP – the Employers’ Association in Education include more efficient, performance-based education funding, stronger connections between educational institutions and employers, the development of dual and tertiary education, lifelong learning, digitalization and the application of artificial intelligence, as well as strengthening entrepreneurial competencies at all levels of education.

The active participation of EFFECTUS in the work of HUP-UPO further confirms the strategic orientation of the University of Applied Sciences towards innovative educational solutions, partnerships with the economy, and the creation of education that meets the real needs of society and the labour market.
