Martina Futivić: My Erasmus experience in Valencia

An opportunity not to be missed, an experience that surpasses all previous ones

• The Erasmus program offers numerous opportunities to students who wish to internationalize their educational and life experience.
• Besides the academic experience, I have gained friendships that will last for years, met many wonderful and interesting people, for which I am extremely grateful.

I am currently in my final, third year of undergraduate studies in “Finance and Business Law.” Last academic year, I dared to apply for the Erasmus program “Law and Economics” at the Universitat de Valencia – Campus dels Tarongers. I spent the winter semester in the beautiful Valencia, a city on the southeastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, the third-largest city in Spain.

Reflecting with a bit of hindsight, I know that my Erasmus experience truly changed my life. It gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture, meet people from all over the world, and acquire new knowledge and skills, both personal and academic. Living in this wonderful country opened my eyes to different perspectives, challenged me to step out of my comfort zone, and greatly influenced my sense of independence and adaptability to everything that life has in store for me.

Besides the academic experience, I have gained friendships that will last for years, met many wonderful and interesting people, for which I am extremely grateful. Erasmus not only enriched my education but also broadened my horizons and shaped me into a more open-minded and culturally aware individual.

The Erasmus program offers numerous opportunities to students who wish to internationalize their educational and life experience. First and foremost, it provides an opportunity to experience a new culture, allowing students to live and study in a foreign country and immerse themselves in a completely different world from what they know. Additionally, Erasmus fosters personal growth and independence through life in a new environment, promoting resilience and self-confidence. Moreover, the Erasmus program is an experience of studying in a foreign language, with different teaching methods that enrich students’ perspectives.

I would recommend the Erasmus program to anyone, and I would definitely without hesitation relive every moment I experienced there. It is an experience that I will forever cherish and value, one that will continue to impact me in countless ways.
