Mladen Vedriš, Ph.D.

Ph.D. Mladen Vedriš was born on December 29, 1950, in Zagreb. He completed primary school and high school in Zagreb. In 1973, he graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb, where he was awarded the Rector’s Award. He obtained his master’s degree at the University of Zagreb, completing the postgraduate program in Financial Theory and Policy with a thesis titled “Analysis of the Causes of Public Expenditure Growth in the Modern World.” In 1996, he earned his doctorate from the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb with a dissertation titled “Structural Policy in the Function of Establishing an Efficient Market Economy in the Republic of Croatia.”
From 1975 to 1984, he worked as a research associate at the Center for Research and Migration at the University of Zagreb. In 1984, he joined the Assembly of the City of Zagreb, working in the City Committee for Spatial Planning and Communal Affairs. In 1990, he was elected by the Zagreb City Assembly as President of the Executive Council of the City of Zagreb. From 1990 to 1992, he served as President of the Crisis Headquarters of the City of Zagreb. In 1992, he became a member of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, responsible for urban development and the reorganization of state administration. At the beginning of the same year, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia in charge of economic affairs.
From May 1993 to September 1995, he served as President of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce. From February 1996 to April 2005, he was the director of Sonder d.o.o., specializing in strategic business operations and representing domestic and international companies.
His initial research work focused on the economic effects of employment abroad, followed by studies in international economics and economic policy. He has been a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb and the Faculty of Economics in Rijeka.
He has published numerous scientific papers and professional articles and has delivered many lectures at various scientific and public forums.
