On January 22, second-year students of the short professional study programme in Entrepreneurship at EFFECTUS University of Applied Sciences visited the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia as part of field-based instruction for the course Law of Obligations with the Basics of Commercial Contracts.

The students were received at the Supreme Court by Judge Jadranko Jug, PhD, who on that occasion presented the organisation and scope of work of the highest court in the Republic of Croatia, as well as its decision-making processes. The visit provided students with direct insight into the functioning of the judicial branch of government and enabled them to connect the theoretical knowledge acquired during their studies with practical experience.

“Such forms of field-based instruction are extremely important because they allow students to directly link theoretical knowledge with practice and to gain a better understanding of the legal framework within which entrepreneurs and commercial entities operate,” emphasised Jelena Uzelac, PhD, Dean of EFFECTUS University of Applied Sciences, adding that EFFECTUS systematically encourages experiential learning and cooperation with relevant institutions.

As part of the visit, students also toured the premises of the Supreme Court, including the Supreme Court Library, which dates back to the second half of the 19th century and is listed as a special library. The library’s collection comprises approximately 25,000 volumes of books and journals, predominantly in the field of law, and represents an important source of legal literature as well as a valuable part of cultural heritage.

This type of field-based instruction contributes to the quality of studies at EFFECTUS University of Applied Sciences by enabling students to gain practical insights and a deeper understanding of the legal framework that is essential for their future entrepreneurial activities.
