Vedran Ceranić, Ph.D.
Lecturer
Ph.D. Vedran Ceranić was born on August 16, 1983, in Zagreb. After completing the Archbishop’s Classical Gymnasium in Zagreb, he enrolled at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb, studying political science, where he graduated in 2006. He defended his thesis titled “The Perception of the Relationship between the Church and the State in the Documents of the Second Vatican Council”, which was written under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Ivan Padjen.
In the same year, he enrolled at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, where he graduated in 2011 and ranked among the top 2% of students in his generation. During his law studies, he received two Rector’s Awards.
In the 2008/2009 academic year, he served as the editor-in-chief of the student magazine “Pravnik” and published the regular 87th issue of the magazine and a special issue titled “Proceedings on the 20th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child”, in collaboration with the Department of Family Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, and the Ombudsperson for Children. In the 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 academic years, as an external collaborator at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb, he conducted seminars in the courses Introduction to Public Law and Public Media Law for political science and journalism students.
From October 2011 to February 2014, he was employed at the law firm ŽURIĆ I PARTNERI d.o.o. in Zagreb. He passed the judicial exam in 2014 with special praise from the Examination Committee for his success in the exam.
In September 2019, he earned his Ph.D. cum laude at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana (Constitutional Law module), defending his doctoral dissertation titled The Role of the European Court of Human Rights in the Construction of Particular Constitutional Law (mentor: Prof. Dr. Saša Zagorc).
Since February 2014, he has been employed at EFFECTUS, initially as an assistant, and from January 2015 to September 2022 as a lecturer. From September 2022 to June 2023, he was employed at the law firm Lipovšćak and Partners d.o.o. in Zagreb (Crowe Croatia). Since June 2023, he has been working as an independent attorney with a law office based in Zagreb.

He is the author of numerous professional papers, mainly in the field of constitutional law.
