Procurement as a Mirror of Management: A Book That Changes the Perspective on Business Decision-Making, by Helena Popović Petrušić
The presentation of the book “Procurement as a Mirror of Management” by Helena Popović Petrušić, held on April 14 at the Journalists’ Home, brought together numerous representatives of the professional and academic community and opened an important space for reflecting on the role of procurement in modern management. Through presentations and discussion, it was emphasized that decisions are a key factor in creating organizational value, with particular focus on the need to view procurement as a strategic function that significantly exceeds its traditional boundaries.
In the introductory part, the attendees were addressed by the book’s reviewer, Prof. Đuro Horvat, PhD, from EFFECTUS University of Applied Sciences, who highlighted the importance of this work for understanding procurement as a powerful management mechanism that goes beyond the functional boundaries of an organization. He especially stressed that the book opens up space for a new way of thinking about procurement—not merely as an operational function, but as a strategic tool for value creation.
The program continued with a panel discussion in which participants raised a number of relevant questions about the role of decision-making in value creation, the trade-offs between key business dimensions, and the challenges of applying them in everyday practice. The discussion further confirmed how relevant and important the topic of managing through quality decision-making is in today’s business environment.
The book provides a clear and structured framework for thinking about value through decisions, encouraging readers to adopt a different perspective on the role of procurement in modern management and to understand its broader impact on organizational success.
The presentation concluded with an engaging and stimulating discussion with the audience, once again confirming the relevance of the topic and the interest in further reflection on management practices.
We warmly congratulate the author, Helena Popović Petrušić, on this valuable work, as well as all participants of the presentation who contributed to the quality and inspiring nature of the event with their insights. Such gatherings once again highlight the importance of connecting academic thought and business practice in creating new management perspectives.
