Artificial Intelligence Is No Longer the Future – EFFECTUS University of Applied Sciences Students Develop Their Own AI Concepts
What does a world look like in which robots communicate with people, assist in hospitals, and take over part of our everyday tasks? Answers to these questions were explored during the workshop “Artificial Intelligence and Robotics – The Application of Social and Humanoid Robots,” held on May 8 at EFFECTUS University of Applied Sciences and led by Bruna Gerardi, PhD, DBA.
The workshop brought together students and professional associates interested in one of the fastest-growing fields of modern technology. Through a combination of theory and practical work, participants stepped into the reality of artificial intelligence and robotics. Key concepts of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotics were presented, with special emphasis on their interconnection and application in everyday life and business. Particular attention was given to the role of technology in transforming sectors such as healthcare, tourism, and service industries.
Through concrete examples, participants were introduced to modern robots such as Pepper, NAO, Sophia, and Optimus, gaining insight into the real possibilities of their application — from user communication to assistance in complex work environments. In addition to technological aspects, the workshop also addressed questions of ethics and the relationship between humans and machines, encouraging participants to critically reflect on the future of artificial intelligence.
During the practical part of the workshop, participants worked in teams to develop their own ideas for the application of artificial intelligence and robotics. This collaborative format highlighted their creativity, teamwork skills, and ability to apply newly acquired knowledge to real-world challenges. The workshop participants included students Jelena Kutnar, Franjo Milić, Jan Grabovac, Maja Pavlović, and Anamarija Dobrenić, together with professional associates Blaženka Deanović, Maja Javorović, and Ivana Radman Livaja.
Once again, the workshop confirmed the importance of connecting theoretical knowledge with practical experience, as well as the role of higher education in preparing students for the challenges of a digital and technologically advanced society.
